Meet Tamara
HEAD TRAINER, PHOTOGRAPHER AND HERM SPRENGER CANINE PARTNER
Born and raised in California, I’ve always been a true Oregonian at heart. From a young age, I was fascinated by wolves, a curiosity that blossomed into a deep-rooted love for dogs. Over time, that evolved into a passion for helping dogs live their best, happiest lives through training.
I’ve always been someone who loves figuring things out on my own, and training was the one of the first challenges I tackled independently. It didn’t take long before I realized I had a natural talent for understanding and connecting with dogs.
It wasn’t until I moved to Oregon in 2017 that the thought of becoming a trainer even crossed my mind. I had no idea where to start, so I focused my energy on getting into the dog industry in any way possible. I started in grooming shops before realizing it wasn’t for me.
With guidance from experienced trainers online and hands-on practice at a local training company, I honed my self-taught skills and built the foundation for the trainer I am today. Skip ahead a few years and I co-founded Doglingual with my amazing partner!
Outside of training, I love dog photography through my company, Focus on Furever Photography, where I use my training knowledge to capture amazing shots. When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll usually find me outdoors with my little family.
Meet Carsyn
ASSISTANT TRAINER, TREKKING PAWS HANDLER AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES SUPPORT
Like Tamara, I was born in California but moved shortly to Clackamas, Oregon. Though I came from a low-income, single-parent household, my mother made sure to provide me with as many opportunities and experiences as possible.
After graduating high school, I adopted my first dog, Kali, who changed my life forever! When I enlisted into the Army, my best friend’s parents took her in and loved her like I did until the day she passed away.
After eight years in the military, I found myself back in Oregon and enrolled at Portland State University, joining their outdoor adventure group and participating in activities like whitewater rafting, backpacking, kayaking and mountaineering. Although I loved these outings, I missed having a canine adventure buddy.
Adopting my one-eyed, animal-reactive American Staffordshire terrier Becky is what kicked off my dog training career as I helped her become the best version of herself. (Becky is currently living her best life with a fellow veteran, traveling and hiking across the Pacific Northwest!)
While attending PSU, I needed a flexible job, so I started caring for dogs on WAG! and Rover. After graduation, I made dog care my full-time focus, adding pack hikes and trail running. I’ve since expanded my skills through CATCH Academy and continue to grow as a trainer, planning to earn my CCPDT certification soon.
Tamara and I currently own six dogs: Ezio, Wryn, Neji, Baby Sai-Fry, Raven and Totoro. When we’re not training or adventuring, you’ll find me doing home projects or sleeping.
